Hello! Is This Thing On?

Sweet Pea and Sport - who doesn't love photo booth?

Hello lovelies! I am still here and I hope someone is still listening. This has been one of those weeks. We all have them. I'm not special. I will spare you all of the details, but let's just say that apples are not my favorite fruit right now. After my computer crashed and the young man at the computer bar or store or whatever it is they call it, assured me that all would be restored on my computer and life as I knew it would not end. Only to get my computer back from the computer bar or store or whatever it is they call it and have nothing be as it was before and my pictures and music lost on some magic back-up thing, so here I am. I also won't go into detail about the fact that the mini-pearls have a short school week for the second week in a row and I was up way past my bedtime last night watching the best/worst baseball game ever, so I am tired today. And, I have to watch yet another baseball game tonight and I am not sure my heart can take it. Oh, by the way, Go Rangers!

Sorry, I guess I didn't spare you many of the details. This is that time of year when I really want to stay home and be domestic. You know, sip on a comforting cup of hot tea all day while I tidy-up the house and prepare my surroundings for the cooler weather and the holidays. And serve-up delicious and warm pots of stew or chili for an evening meal around the dinner table with all of my pearls present. I want to nest. I don't like to be out and about on a week night after the sun goes down. I want to be home. Reality? Basketball practice, indoor soccer practice, ballet and umpteen million other events. Lots of traveling after dark and dinner? Well, we eat around the table, I see to that, but everyone is usually so famished that a Norman Rockwell picture, it aint'!

I must say though that in the middle of all of this, I am reminded how I am not alone and I am so very blessed. Blessed by the friend with an unexpected cup of coffee. Blessed by the tender hug from the sweet baby of a dear friend. Blessed by the words of praise about my child from a teacher. Blessed by the installation of the windows at the new house - whohoo! Blessed by the stolen moment in the middle of the night from my baby who had a bad dream. Blessed by the cozy, rainy afternoon nap I managed to sneak in. Blessed by the opportunity to dance with and thoroughly embarrass my children at a fun school event. Yes, I am trying very hard to turn stressed to blessed. Thankfully the good Lord is patient with me and doesn't give up on me.

Wow, I feel better. Ready to face the day with two of the mini-pearls plus one friend at home and asking "What's next?" Ready for the phone call that I am sure to get this weekend from Fisherman, as he is out hunting for the opening youth weekend. "Mom, do you want deer sausage or jerky?" (for the record - neither. Yuck.) Ready to prepare for the madness of Monday. Nope, not a big fan of Halloween. Yes, I am ready. Blessed and not stressed and I hope you are as well. Have a wonderful weekend!

Monday, Monday

It's Monday. Just thought I would say that, in case you didn't already know. I was awake half the night, listening to the storms. I am the weather monitor at our abode. Everyone seems to be able to sleep through what sounds like Armageddon, except me. I don't ever want to miss an opportunity to hunker-down in the hall bathroom with my husband, the mini-pearls and the two dogs and a fish in a space never meant to hold more than one person at a time. I'm a safety girl. (name that movie) When the weather sirens go off, I'm your girl. Thankfully, we dodged the bullet here. Our trees received an impromptu pruning, but we are safe and sound.

Ok, back to Monday. All I really wanted to say is how nice it would be to curl-up in a comfy bed, sip on some tea and read a good book. Interested? Well, at least we can go there in our minds. This is what I'll be thinking of in carpool line today. Have a good one!

The Gift That Keeps On Giving - Ice Day 4

I woke-up this morning to the majesty of a winter's morn to find that Mother Nature had bestowed yet another gracious gift on my yard... four inches of fresh snow. The scene was absolutely beautiful and peaceful (I love the "quiet" of snowfall. There is nothing like it.). However, this wintry weather is starting to feel like the jelly of the month club or a visit from cousin Eddie - it just won't end! The mini-pearls have snowball fights and snowman building on tap for this afternoon. It is still snowing, so we are letting it pile up before we tackle it. Well, snow is white, and I love white. This is my new mantra, "I love white. White is good." This is keeping me going while I prepare for another day of cooking, keeping cold, wet clothing dry and constantly wiping the murky mess deposited by the front door from snow and ice-caked boots. How do my friends to the north handle this for months on end? Well, Mr. Pearl has made pancakes and eggs and I am going to enjoy a meal that I didn't prepare. Happy Friday all!

This white is what I prefer and my "dream" today!

Oh, to curl up and read a book here.

Aahhh! Now we are talking!

Heaven...

I love white. White is good.

The Sticky Hand

I never claimed to be observant, and apparently, I'm not. You see, I have been living with a foreign object hanging above my head since Monday (when the minis were home for MLK day) and did not notice it until I happened upon all three of my offspring standing on the living room furniture, firing Nerf guns at the ceiling yesterday. They were firing at the red object below, trying to get it down (before I noticed - ha!).

Please ignore the not-so-lovely ceiling fan, I am still saving for my wine barrel chandeliers from Restoration Hardware! (which is now going toward the new abode)

It is well-known around our home that I don't like these sticky things, as at our last home, my precious little ones stuck one to the wall and the observant mother that I am, left it there and it stained the wall! The last thing I need is a red stain on the ceiling but we can't get this thing down! It is fifteen feet up and no amount of stacked chairs, broom sticks and high-powered Nerf gun bullets can dislodge this sticky, red wonder. Yes, we have an extension ladder, but that would require going out to the garage, clearing a path to said ladder and carrying that beast into the house and then back. No, it is definitely more fun to risk life and limb by climbing on a chair stacked on another chair. Maybe I'll just leave it. I'll give it a name. Charlotte. Yes, as in Charlotte's Web. We will be the only house on the block with one. We'll start a trend. Sticky Hand pets - what do you think?
